The sound of the choir in this extraordinary building is quite unique. Go at 5pm Mon-Sat (3.15 on Sundays) to hear Evensong. Entry to the Cathedral and the service is free at that time. Sit towards the back and you can simply walk out at any time without disturbing anyone. Agreed, the sung (Mass) Eucharist (on Sunday mornings and Saints’ Days) is overlong if you are not interested in the Anglican religion.
