When you have little ones you can’t only visit the cultural attractions. Sometimes enjoying yourself is an experience too. We don’t have to experience everything viscerally at secondhand by hearing / seeing where things happen.
The reason theme parks etc are fun is that you have an experience while there. I hated such place before but now I have kids they are fantastic. By the way, if you want to see theatre take in the fringe shows.
