Madame Tussauds
Why Madame Tussauds is one of the worst London tourist attractions
Madame Tussaud’s is one of the most famous tourist attractions in London. We really don’t know why! Nobody tells you that looking at unnatural wax figures of celebrities is an expensive waste of time.
You will be pushing and shoving the whole time, and you’ll always be in front of someone who wants to take a picture of their friends or family members posing with a wax dummy. You need damn good nerves and better have an extra dose of politeness and patience for breakfast, or you’ll make headlines with “Gruesome Mass Murder at Madame Tussaud’s!” yourself.
The wax museum may be ideal for people who wish to pretend to have met their favorite celebrity, so they can show off their pictures at home. Unfortunately, the wax dummies are not particularly life-like when photographed. Since these figures are the works of artists who have never actually met the celebrity they are meant to copy, some of them have a rather limited likeness to the real person!
There are so many people pushing their way through the one-way tour that the chance of being alone in a picture with the wax figures is basically zero. We recommend a visit to this London tourist attraction only if you have plenty of time, money and patience or masochistic tendencies.

I agree that Madame Tussauds is really not worth to spend any time or even money to see some wax figures. Nice picture!

I don’t know why you think Madame Tussauds is so bad! I actually liked it a lot. The royal family is gorgeos! Also the “haunted section” is really cool and scary. And to avoid the masses, get up early and be one of the first visitors and you will have plenty of room!

I didn’t mind Madame Tussauds so much. I agree that it’s too crowded, but that was some what my fault as I wanted to go in the middle of the day. Overall I thought it wasn’t such a bad place… at least I walked away with some nice pictures with me and Mel Gibson

I did enjoy Madame Tussauds. Of course I was there to see the sights. I actually took the little Taxi Ride which provided historic info and saw the planetarium show which was cute. I enjoyed it.

I thought Madam Tussauds is a huge ripoff. It cost 20 pounds to get in, which is around $50 in Canadian funds. While you’re waiting in line to get in, there’s a big sign reminding you to be wary of pickpockets. FOR $50 A HEAD, THERE SHOULDN’T BE A PICKPOCKET PROBLEM! After you get in, there isn’t a guided tour, every room has a tacky trinket/junk stand with everything made in China (newsflash, I didn’t travel all the way to London to buy a coffee mug MADE IN CHINA!). Many of the wax sculptures don’t really look like the historical figures they represent, and a lot of them aren’t even real people at all. What fun is it to get your picture taken with a huge wax Incredible Hulk? Who’s going to look at it and go “By jesus, looks just like the hulk he did!”
I want my 20 pounds back! Huge ripoff.

Oh No, I’ve included Madame T’s in my itinerary.
I will be bringing my partner and two “children’ 19 years female and 15 years male.
Please, someone tell me something that will not make me take Madame T’s off my Itinerary now.
I went there myself as a young teen and I really loved the place, but now i’m completely confused.
If you were not going to Madame T’s, where would you go instead? The London Dungeons don’t get great reviews either.

The workmanship on the dummies in Tussauds is nothing less than MAGNIFICANT. Even the smallest hairs and skin pours on the wax people are done perfectly. These are true works of art.

Some years back I visited the “Tower of London” as I wanted to see all the sights of London. The line to see the Crown Jewels was unbelievably long and slow. A lady asked one of the Beefeater guards at the Tower if she could take a photo. I saw him pose for her, so I too who was standing next to the lady aimed my camera at this clown in the funny outfit. He rushed foward putting his hand over my camera lens yelling because I did not ask permission for a photo. Now this guy requested this cushey British Army post for the tourists trade to gawk at, wearing a funny outfit for the purpose of being a tourist photo opt. If he were unhappy with being a tourist attraction, he should request to become a REAL solider at a real duty post…Louie Orduna

Retarded review.
Almost like the reviewer was trying desperately to sound unique but failed.
The museum was great. The figures are exactly what they were meant to be, gorgeous, life-like and works of art.
And about taking pics !? No one is stupid enough to take pics with a Stallone figure and say they met the real guy.
More like saying, hey check it out I went to the museum.
Again… a very retarded review.

At £25 per adult Madame Tussauds is a real rip off. We went a few days ago and it was so crowed we couldn’t wait to get outside so we could breath again! London has loads of lovely attractions that we really enjoyed, we would recommend you spending your money seeing some of them, or save your money and do the free attraction like the museums and galleries.

ALL of the Beefeaters have served exemplary careers (22 or more years) in the British Army before they can even be considered for the job. ALL of them have served their Queen and country courageously through good and bad times. These men and women of the Yeomanry have led their fellow soldiers in peace and war time. They deserve to be treated with enormous respect by those visiting one of England’s great historical sites. This respect includes being asked for permission to photograph them. The first tourist obviously was mindful of this. You were not. Consider yourself lucky you were not ejected!

My daughters and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Madame Tussauds. However, we had one enormous gripe. We queued for 2 hours to get in. Like many others, we were fooled by the queue outside of the building, which we thought was long enough. We waited there for 1 hour. However, once we made it into the building, rather than finally seeing the ticket booth as we had thought, there was a sign up telling us that we would be another hour from there!!! If you do go, either buy advanced tickets or expect the long wait.

I completely agree, I was on the verge of tears when I visited last Saturday. It was like going to a bar in the city on a Friday night. I have never been to such a badly organised attraction in my life. Madame Tussards in Amsterdam was 200% better, calmer and much more enjoyable. Definately not for people with claustrophobia.

I love Tussauds. It’s one of those things which clearly divides people into two categories. I like to be in the group of those who would never go see that c**p. I really can’t think of a more dissociated mind: one day at Tussauds, the day after to the British Museum. You would be in the wrong place in either one.
