    Greenwich Village

Why Greenwich Village is one of the worst London tourist attractions

Greenwich Village is a so-called tourist attraction far from the heart of London which takes a while to get to.

After arriving, you have to walk a fair distance uphill to see the “famous” 24 hour clock and the prime meredian. It’s exhausting and it’s such a disappointment. It’s sooo boring. There’s absolutely nothing there to hold your attention. You look at the clock and the stone you can step on which represents the prime meridian and think: is this it?

Don’t waste your time visiting this London tourist attraction – it’s really not worth the effort. There are much more interesting sights to see in London that don’t require so much walking.

The place is full of squirrels that are so tame, they are going to eat out of your hand. Quite fun if you’ve never seen one before!

As a former resident of greenwich village i think it is a WONDERFUL place to visit. Not only is the prime meridian a unique attraction, but it’s in the middle of a gorgeous park. They have a lovely rose garden if you’re there April-June. Whoever wrote that it is too far of a walk is obviously a lazy bugger. It takes 10-15 minutes from the Greenwich DLR station to the top of the hill. Don’t be so lazy!

Don’t knock Greenwich! The park is lovely with great views and there’s the excellent National Maritime Museum and Queen’s House. St Alphege’s church is interesting and there’s also Ranger’s House and Blackheath itself.

Greenwich is a fantastic place to visit, especially the markets, park, observatory and restaurants. You can take a river cruise from Westminster or Tower of London to get there which is wonderful.

It has a great vibe, lots of free things to do like the museum, prime meridian and if you have children, there is a playground and lake at the bottom of the park which they will love.

I can’t understand why Greenwich is on the list. Are you guys mad????

Only boring if you don’t have much imagination!

Did you step inside the maritime museum or the observatory?

Visit the Cutty Sark down at the wharf?

Have a pint of beer at a pub, or visit the pirate shop?

No, I didn’t think so! Go to Greenwich, people – it’s worth the trip.

Whoever decided that Greenwich was Greenwich Village – sorry this is not NY. It is not a village. It has a wonderful park, and climbing to the Observatory Museum enables people to have a fantastic view of London. Lots to do, good places to eat. No, I’m not connected with the tourist office, just a Londoner who appreciates the really good things that London has to offer. Don’t come, there will be more room for us.

I’m afraid you have it wrong. Greenwich Village is in New York. The place you visited was Greenwich. Also, Greenwich is not a toursit attraction. It is a place where people live, which also happens to have one or two interesing things there. This is perhaps where you made your error, and why you were disappointed. In fact, most of the places in your London list are not really tourist attractions. Once again, this is possibly why you did not enjoy them. You might just as well review Tesco’s supermarket as a tourist attraction. Perhaps, by your apparent standards, you migh enjoy it more.

What a stupid comment. As if the clock and the meridian are in Greenwich Village anyway, They are in the park, along with the observatory museum, a terrific view from beyond the Dome right up to the City. it will have again the Cutty Sark and has Gipsy Moth 4. An interesting Market. The Maritime Museum, one of the best anywhere. The Royal naval College, now part of the University but still open to view. Nelson, Cook both figure in Greenwich,Thames barges sail through. A theatre. Theme cafe’s Thai restauramts and others, The Park itself with its view. Have you really been there? Are you an armchair critic or just a bore yourself? If you cannot enjoy Greenwich then leave London altogether

Whoever wrote this comment surely hasn’t spent much time exploring Greenwich. Greenwich has such a great variety of things to see and spend the time on that I don’t even know where to start. If you went up the hill just to take a picture at the Meridian line and nothing else…., well I guess that tells a lot about yourself… should have visited the Royal Observatory museum, which is great, and at least the park and the great shops and stalls in the market. I also recommend going there by ship from Westminster Peer and returning by train which additionally makes it a round full day out.
